Quick answer

Signature check-ins are short recurring reflections — weekly or fortnightly — based on a framework our AI generates from your company name and values. Employees answer a few prompts in a Slack DM; managers and HR read the results on the web, and everything feeds into appraisals.

What makes it "signature"?

Most check-in tools send everyone the same generic form. ASHR.work builds one just for your company: give it your company name and core values, and the AI creates a memorable acronym where each letter is a reflection prompt — themes like failures, accelerations, wins, threats, innovation and feedback. Your framework's name even appears as the tab label in the app.

Each cycle asks only a small rotating subset of the prompts, so no single check-in feels heavy, but over a month the whole framework gets covered.

For employees

  1. Watch for the Slack DM

When a cycle opens, the ASHR app sends you a short DM with the prompts for that cycle.
  2. Answer honestly, briefly

A sentence or two per prompt is plenty. It takes a couple of minutes.
  3. See your history

Open Reviews → Check-ins on the web to look back at everything you've submitted.

If you miss one, the app reminds you automatically — no chasing from HR needed.

For managers

Your team's check-ins appear on the web under your team view. Use them to spot things that never come up in status meetings: a quiet win worth celebrating, a risk nobody escalated, or a pattern across weeks. At appraisal time, the check-ins are your evidence — no more remembering a whole year from scratch.

For admins: switching it on

  1. Open Admin → Organisation

    Find the check-in settings card.
  2. Pick a cadence

Weekly or fortnightly. Off pauses the whole thing without deleting anything.
  3. Tune the reminders

Choose when nudges go to people who haven't answered yet.

Employees need the Slack app connected to receive check-in DMs — see the Slack article below for the one-time setup.

Frequently asked questions

How long does a check-in take?
A couple of minutes. Each cycle asks only a small, rotating set of prompts — never the whole framework at once.
What if someone forgets to answer?
The Slack app sends automatic reminders. Admins can adjust when those reminders go out in Admin → Organisation.
Are check-in answers private?
They are not anonymous — your manager and HR can read them. That is the point - they surface wins and problems early so someone can act on them.
Can we pause check-ins?
Yes. An admin can set the cadence to Off at any time and turn it back on later. Nothing is deleted.
Do check-ins affect appraisals?
They use the same vocabulary as your appraisals, so the year's reflections are available as real evidence at review time instead of being forgotten.
